Orange Is The New Black Season 3 Trailer Is Emotional And Intense

I know that a year in prison is obviously a billion times more intense than a year of waiting for a TV show to come out, but dammit if it hasn’t been a struggle waiting for Netflix to bring Orange is the New Black back to its adoring fanbase. Thankfully, the first full-length Season 3 trailer just dropped, and it’s one hell of an emotional roller coaster. Check it out.

Presumably at the forefront of this drama is the return of Alex “the Bettie Page of Litchfield” Vause. She and Piper are definitely going to have some rough moments in the future, especially when the bruised-up Alex gets clued in on why she’s back in the pen. (It’s because Piper called Alex’s parole officer and warned him Alex was trying to skip town.) But honestly, these characters are two of the least interesting to me.

Luckily, there’s a new pretty face in the building that will almost definitely be widening the rift between Piper and Alex. Her name is Stella Carlin, and she’s played by Australian model Ruby Rose. Of course, she might actually bring the tumultuous couple closer together for a series of same-sex threesomes. I wouldn’t put it past this show in the least. Wink.

And then there’s the emotional gamut that everyone else is running. We’ve got Pennsatucky pleased as punch to be the person bringing in the new inmates. We’ve got Boo looking absolutely devastated with her feminine new haircut. We’ve got Gloria and Sophia heading for some kind of a (possibly violent) standoff at some point. Taystee and Crazy Eyes are hugging and crying. Chang loves everybody. Caputo looks extremely pissed. Daya and Bennett actually look happy. Nicky is celebrating in some kind of nice office. And Black Cindy just wants to get her rap on.

Considering this Emmy-winning series is more character-based than plot-based, this is the perfect kind of trailer to get fans ready for what’s coming. And you know what’s not coming back for Season 3? Piper’s ex Larry, which pleases me just as much as that last bit in the trailer involving Crazy Eyes’ erotic fiction. “And aliens.” Love it.

Slip into something comfortable, like an orange jumpsuit, when Orange is the New Black Season 3 premieres on Netflix on June 12.
