Marvel President Kevin Feige Updates On Last Week's Additional Filming For The Avengers

Exactly one week ago today I was sitting in the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles attending the press day for Marvel's The Avengers. And the end of a press conference featuring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson, and Kevin Feige, just as the talent was about ready to leave the stage, Downey Jr. leaned into his microphone and announced that they were going to be filming an additional scene that night. The news spread like widefire and everyone began to speculate. Would they be shooting an additional tag for the end of the film? Would it be a hint at what we might see in Iron Man 3? Could it be a scene introducing a new superhero, like Ant-Man or Wasp? Unfortunately it looks like it's nothing even close to that exciting.

Blogomatic 3000 (via Bleeding Cool) spoke with Kevin Feige at the European premiere for The Avengers (known over there as Avengers Assemble) and while the Marvel president did confirm that they did shoot something new for the film last week, it's so tiny that it can't even be considered a scene. "I will tell you this," Feige said. "It was not a scene. It was not a scene. There’s little things. It’s been blown out of proportion. Which is fun, I like that things are blown out of proportion. Sometimes they’re true sometimes they’re not." Asked if it would end up changing the current cut of the film, the Marvel exec said, "There is the potential that there will be one little change. People might not even notice it. It’s not a big thing."

What's funny about this situation is that if the changes are as small as Feige suggests, the only people that could potentially recognize them are those that were at either the Los Angeles or London premieres. But that's only if he's telling the truth...
