Steve Carell Is In The Army Now![]()
When the Napoleonic Wars come up, my mind immediately is filled with visions of a Steve Carell comedy. There is something about Michael Scott as a soldier in the brutal dictator's dominating army that just makes me smile. It also made the guys who wrote Blades of Glory smile, so they wrote a movie about it, The Adventures of Brigadier Gerard.
According to Variety, Carell is thinking about playing the dumbest and bravest soldier in Napoleon’s army while The Office is on hiatus. John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky, who invented male pairs figure skating in Blades of Glory, have a script, and Mike Judge will executive produce, which is encouraging. The character of Gerard is based on a series of short stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, better known as the creator of Sherlock Holmes. This is not a sure thing for Carell, since he is being tempted by other projects for his hiatus. Foremost among them is a Get Smart sequel. I can’t say that Altschuler and Krinsky generate much enthusiasm from me as I didn’t much like Blades of Glory, but Judge and Carell typically get the benefit of the doubt (yes, even after Evan Almighty.) |
