BREAKING MOVIE NEWS
Among the films featured at Comic-Con this year is Ender's Game, which is not only set to be featured in a panel, but is also on display through a walk through "fan experience," which offers a much more vivid preview of the film that's set to arrive in theaters this fall. After picking up my badge and getting some much needed sustenance after a day of traveling, I officially kicked off my 2013 Comic-Con experience by checking out HGTV and Summit's Ender's Game Fan experience.
Godzilla may not be the most hotly anticipated film promoting itself at Comic-Con this week… but that won't last long if their promotional efforts keep up like this. On top of the massive fan experience they're already planning outside the Con, and the traditional Hall H panel, the movie's team keeps releasing stuff online to those of us who don't get to go to San Diego-- including this pretty damn stunning new poster
The floodgates have opened and San Diego Comic-Con 2013 has officially begun with Preview Night, which is the first chance for fans to step on to the Con's massive exhibit hall. There are booths for everything from stuffed animals to blockbuster movies to, believe it or not, actual comics.
There's a lot of competition for grabbing attention at San Diego Comic Con, but it helps to have a blue guy on your side to rise above the pack. A full two days before their Hall H panel, Sony has released a teaser video that gives us our first look at Jamie Foxx's Electro
Half of our Cinema Blend team is currently on their way to San Diego, where they're mustering up all their courage and charging into the breach of Comic-Con International. We've already been covering the Con a ton at this point, with word on which posters will be available to buy, which stars will be appearing before the crowds, and which upcoming movies will be promoting themselves with clips, trailers, casting announcements and who knows what else.
While most reboots of decades old franchises have earned the scorn of movie fans who sneer at seemingly artless cash-grabs, 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes showed how modern tech could effectively expand on a pre-existing film world. The cutting edge motion-capture animation of WETA combined with the unique acting talents of mo-cap performance master Andy Serkis created an ape like we'd never seen before.
There are literally thousands, maybe even a million, things to buy at Comic Con, from your standard issue toys and posters to collectibles and rare comics that cost as much as that ticket to San Diego did to begin. How do you decide what to spend your cash on? That's between you and your budget, buster. But this How To Train Your Dragon 2 print might not be a bad place to start
The week of San Diego Comic-Con is always a big one for Marvel Studios, and 2013 is no different. Not only has it been announced that concept art for both Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Thor: The Dark World will be available as posters at the studio’s booth on the convention floor, today we also have all of the awesome specs for the upcoming home video release of Iron Man 3.
Scripted by Dante Harper, Joby Harold, Alex Kurtzman, and Roberto Orci, the thriller is a twist on films like Harold Ramis' Groundhog Day and Duncan Jones' Source Code and stars Cruise as a soldier who finds himself caught in a time loop fighting in a war against alien invaders.
From San Diego, Gravity continues its goodwill press tour by shifting into a more conventional awards season trot. As we reported earlier, Cuaron’s film – which follows a pair of astronauts stranded after a space explosion – will open this year’s Venice Film Festival. After that, it’s expected to stop at the Toronto International Film Festival and, possibly, Telluride.
Director Gareth Edwards also left a message for everyone, specifically “Legendary fans,” where he stands in front of a mound of greenscreen-backed wreckage, and reveals they’re nearing the end of the shoot, as well as a not-quite-revealing image.
The short film will debut Friday, and also will be included on the Iron Man 3 DVD, due out in September. The short will take place one year after Rogers has been frozen in ice, with Carter (Atwell) working for the SSR, or Strategic Scientific Reserve – an early mode of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Comic-Con is right around the corner, and while attendees at the massive San Diego convention will have the chance to get the first look at a whole lot of footage and other goodies from upcoming projects, those of us forced to stay home can get in on the fun too. This bit of concept art that premiered at Entertainment Weekly is our best look yet at the main challenge that will be facing Captain America in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and it's right there in the title

If the plot has shades of The Hunger Games … well, Summit clearly is hoping that Woodley and Divergent strike a similar chord to what Jennifer Lawrence and Games struck with audiences a few years back. It’s interesting to see Games and Divergent squaring off at this year’s Comic-Con, where one now is a proven commodity and the other still is trying to convert a new audience.
