Ant-Man And The Wasp Just Added A Hateful Eight Actor

Walton Goggins in The Hateful Eight

Although Scott Lang returned last year in Captain America: Civil War to show off his Giant-Man skills, it's bee two years since the Ant-Man corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was opened up. Following the craziness that is Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel fans will delve back into the lives of Lang, Hope van Dyne and Hank Pym in Ant-Man and the Wasp. The lineup of returning characters for the sequel has long been confirmed, but over the last month, the new actors have slowly been announced. We can now add The Hateful Eight's Walton Goggins to that group.

Walton Goggins has signed on the dotted line to appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp, although Deadline did not provide any details about the character he will be playing. Goggins' most recently appeared on the big screen in the Quentin Tarantino ensemble The Hateful Eight, and his other credits over the years have included Justified, The Shield, Predators, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Django Unchained and Lincoln. He can currently be seen on HBO's Vice Principals and A&E's Six, and in addition to Ant-Man and the Wasp, Goggins will leave his mark in theaters next year in Maze Runner: The Death Cure and the Tomb Raider reboot.

There are plenty of candidates from the Ant-Man mythos and the wider Marvel universe who Walton Goggins could play in Ant-Man and the Wasp, but one of the elements about this movie that's still a mystery is who its main antagonist will be, and Goggins could certainly fit that mold well. Some notable Ant-Man comics villains who could potentially be used for the sequel include Crossfire, Egghead, Taskmaster and Black Knight. Let's also not forget that in Ant-Man, Mitchell Carson got away with a Pym Particles sample, so perhaps Goggins' character is a HYDRA associate or a member of a different terrorist group that got ahold of the sample. If we're looking outside of villain territory, another possibility is he could be Eric O'Grady, the third Ant-Man who wasn't nearly as heroic as Hank Pym as Scott Lang when he first donned the costume. We'll keep you updated on how exactly Goggins is involved in Ant-Man 2 when more details come in.

Ant-Man and the Wasp will follow the continuing adventures of Scott Lang, and this time, he'll be joined in the field as Hope van Dyne, who has finally inherited the Wasp mantle previously used by her mother, Janet. Along with Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly, the returning cast includes Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michael Pena as Luis, T.I. as Dave and Dave Dastmalchian as Kurt. The other newcomers include Hannah John-Kamen and Randall Park as Jimmy Woo. It's also rumored that Bill Foster, a.k.a. Goliath, will appear.

Ant-Man and the Wasp hits theaters on June 6, 2018.
