Did Simon Cowell Deserve To Get Egged?

For more than a decade, Simon Cowell has teased, scolded, ridiculed, poked fun at, lambasted and torn into an almost uncountable number of contestants on a wide range of reality television programs. He could have been nicer. He could have softened the blow, but more often than not, he elected to turn the knife as viciously as possible in order to make the television product as entertaining for the people at home as possible.

The tactic has generated some incredible ratings on American Idol, Britain’s Got Talent and others, but it has also left plenty of pissed and angry contestants in its wake. One of those scorned contestants, Natalie Holt, made her fury known earlier this weekend when she showed up to a taping of BGT, ran onto the stage and pelted Cowell with eggs. The judge did his best to downplay the incident, even letting the performers finish up their song, but he clearly wasn’t overly pleased with what happened.

Thus far, reaction to the egging has been mixed. There are some who think Cowell got exactly what he deserved. They think he finally reaped what all of those aggressive and mean-spirited comments sowed. On the other hand, however, there are others who think Simon shouldn’t be blamed for judging people who signed up to be judged on a reality show, and there are even more who think nothing Simon has done warrants getting pelted with eggs.

What do you think? Did Simon deserve to be egged? Let us know your thought by voting in the poll below…
