Taylor Swift: Should Everyone Cool It With The Boyfriend Jokes?

Taylor Swift is no stranger to her love life being a source of comedic fodder. For years, she’s been hearing it from Saturday Night Live, gossip magazines and late night hosts, but apparently, the wisecracks at the Golden Globes actually got under her skin. Rumors are swirling that she’s spent the past week reexamining her boyfriend-hopping ways and might try and be single and take some time for herself.

On the one hand, Taylor Swift is a public figure, and her personal life has been a hilarious mess for the past half-decade. Not only has she dated a slew of famous men, she’s dated a slew of different famous personality types and different ages. From Jack Gyllenhaal to John Mayer to Joe Jonas, she’s gone in a lot of strange directions, and it only makes sense people would make comments about it.

On the other hand, she’s a twenty-three-year-old girl. A ton of twenty-three-year-old girls involve themselves in a lot of different relationships to try and figure out where they fit, and in the long run, these experiences are actually good for them. So, it kind of sucks for Swift that she’s been widely mocked for essentially following a pretty common path.

What do you think? Should everyone take it easy on Swift, or has she gotten exactly what she has deserved? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
