Arrow Is Getting A Mystery Guest During Season 5, Here's What We Know

Big things are coming on the fifth season of The CW's Arrow. Not only will the series' characteristic flashbacks finally catch up with the events of the pilot episode, but Arrow will also finally cross the highly coveted 100-episode mark. It looks like the folks behind the Emerald Archer's solo series have recognized how important that is, as it now seems that they will bring in a mysterious guest to commemorate the occasion. Check out Stephen Amell's tweet below to see for yourself what's coming.

Mr. Amell posted that enigmatic photo to his personal Twitter account to get fans excited about a major event that will occur during Arrow's 100th episode. To celebrate the series finally reaching syndication, it seems that a "mystery guest" will make an appearance during the landmark episode. We have to admit, the guy clearly knows how to get his fans riled up.

As excited as we are about this revelation, discerning the actual identity of the mystery guest is somewhat difficult. Recent photos have already suggested that Jamey Sheridan will return as Oliver's father, Robert Queen, for the 100th episode, so keeping his identity in this photo a secret would make little sense. Beyond that, fan guesses on social media have ranged from Colin Donnell's Tommy Merlyn, to Melissa Benoist's Supergirl. Arrow has never shied away from outlandish storylines, so any of these options would make perfect narrative sense within this established universe.

The Riddler

Of course, it's worth noting that this mystery guest could turn out to be someone that has never appeared on Arrow before. All Stephen Amell's tweet really says is that a guest star will appear on Episode 100 of the series; it doesn't specifically state that it's a returning star. Given the color scheme, as well as the use of a question mark in the middle of the silhouette, some have even theorized that Arrow may bring iconic Batman villain Edward Nygma a.k.a The Riddler into the fray. It seems unlikely, but it's not outside the realm of possibility. Although we would definitely bet on it being someone who has appeared on the show before, Arrow could surprise all of us by simply bringing in a completely new character altogether.

We will just have to wait and see how this pans out. CinemaBlend will bring you all of the latest and greatest Arrow-verse news as more information becomes available to us. Arrow will return for its fifth season on Wednesday, October 5 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
