The Flash Plays Major Role In Epic New Legends Of Tomorrow Trailer

With each passing season, the Arrow-verse shows increased levels of cohesion, as well as increased confidence to act on that cohesion. The Flash and Arrow have already premiered in dramatic fashion, but The CW still has two more DC series left to debut this fall season. With that in mind, a new trailer for Legends of Tomorrow has just been released, and it ominously teases a dramatic appearance by Barry Allen...of the future! Check it out below.

It's wonderful to see that Legends of Tomorrow won't shy away from delightful campiness with its second season on the horizon. That sizzle reel above features some genuinely stellar action, and promises that Rip Hunter's team of Legends will go on some truly insane adventures throughout the next season of the time travel series. While we get some great action shots of the team fighting across several different time periods, the most interesting part of the whole thing comes towards the end, when Rip Hunter gets a message from Barry Allen in the year 2056. It sounds like he's in trouble, but we will have to wait and see what kind of trouble he's really in.

Flash Legends of Tomorrow

It's worth noting that we still have absolutely no idea how Barry Allen factors into the narrative of Legends of Tomorrow's next season. Given The Flash's ability to travel through time due to his use of The Speed Force, the Barry that sends the message could be an older Barry from 2056. The first season of Legends of Tomorrow gave us an older Oliver Queen in one of the series' best episodes, so an older Barry isn't outside the realm of possibility. But it could also be young Barry who has travelled forward in time for some reason; after all, Flashpoint has already started to wreak havoc on his life. His voice does sound deeper and more weathered, but that could easily be explained away if needed.

Regardless of which Barry actually sends the message to Rip Hunter, it's clear that this trailer is setting up a ton of awesome crossover action. Not only will the Legends finally interact with The Flash this coming season, but the trailer also offers us our first glimpse of Green Arrow and Supergirl working side by side during the upcoming four-way crossover event. The trailer also teases the fact that a brand new Legion of Doom (comprised of Reverse-Flash, Damien Darhk, Captain Cold, and Malcolm Merlyn) is coming, so the Arrow-verse heroes will have to band together in a major way.

One thing is certain: we could not be any more excited for the next season of Legends of Tomorrow and Barry Allen's role in it. We will keep you up to date with any and all relevant information related to the second season of The CW series, which premieres Thursday, October 13 at 8 p.m. EST.
