Amazon Launches Legal Movie Downloads

Ready to stop watching movies on your television and switch to sitting at your desk watching them on your computer? Yeah, me neither. But Amazon.com is betting that we'll all be doing that soon. They launched Unbox this week, their new movie downloading service.

The good news? Now there's a legal, corporate-backed way to download movies. The bad news? Well it may be legal but it isn't free. Worse, according to some of the feedback I've gotten from people, you have to install invasive Amazon software in order to watch them, Unbox monitors your computer and reports on what you watch, if you ever uninstall Unbox Amazon.com reserves the right to delete all the movies you've legally purchased from your computer, oh and unless you're one of those incredibly tech savvy people with too much time and money if you're computer dies you're screwed and you'll lose all the movies you've purchased since you can't burn them onto a DVD to save and/or watch on your DVD player.

Sorry, I'm just not on board with the downloading movies thing yet and I don't think this service is going to convert any new users let alone snag people already downloading movies for free outside the bounds of legality. Nice try Amazon, but I'm saying no thanks.
