Sega Is Releasing Their Own Classic Mini Console, Get The Details

Just recently, Nintendo announced they were releasing a mini-version of their Nintendo console, and it got so much attention that now it seems Sega is doing the exact same thing with the Sega Genesis.

The new product coming from Sega is called the mini Mega Drive and will include 80 built-in Genesis games available in two versions, the console version and the handheld version.

When Nintendo announced their mini console, fans completely lost it over the news. The NES Classic is supposed to include only 30 built-in games, so of course Sega saw this as an opportunity to top Nintendo.

While it doesn't include all of the classics, there is a spot in the console to slide in a Sega Genesis cartridge.

I was always a fan of the Sega Genesis with games likeGhouls N' Ghosts and ESWAT, and it really excites me that Sega and Nintendo are having a retro console war. What more could a diehard gaming fan ask for?

Some of the comments I've seen online have argued that the 80 built-in games for the Mega Drive are a lot of crap compared to the line-up on the NES Classic, and I kind of agree with them. This is very similar to the mini console they tried to release in stores like Bed, Bath And Beyond and Walmart, which some has noted was broken and awful. So while Sega may have more games lined up for its mini console, NES might still be in the lead in this console race.

The mini Mega Drive is available for pre-order for £49.99 on Funstockretro in the UK.
