Ubisoft's return to the Assassin's Creed franchise this year with Assassin's Creed: Origins has been eventful enough. However, the studio wanted to include more community-oriented activities by launching a Photo Mode contest for gamers, and it's currently set to take place this week.

In a press release, Ubisoft announced that owners of Assassin's Creed: Origins are encouraged to use the game's Photo Mode for a special contest that will run from December 7th, 2017 at 6:00am Pacific Standard Time all the way to January 10th, 2018 at 8:59am Pacific Standard Time, where gamers will be encouraged to submit photos based on specific themes.

Each week the team will reveal the new theme for the photo contest over on the official Assassin's Creed website. The theme will also be posted on the official Twitter account for Assassin's Creed, and gamers will be encouraged to share the photos through the EasyPromos App portal.

Each week, as a theme is made available, the development team will choose five winners. There will be a grand prize winner and four runner-up winners will be chosen.

The first week's theme is centered around Wild Life. This means attempting to snap some shots of the animals and creatures that populate ancient Egypt in Assassin's Creed: Origins. You can grab a shot of some hippos grazing, or crocodiles swimming, or birds making their way across the sky.

If your photo happens to be selected as a runner-up, you'll receive a free season pass code, giving you access to all the future DLC set to arrive for Assassin's Creed: Origins. If you already have a season pass, Ubisoft will send you a free Assassin's Creed shirt. The grand prize winner for each photo contest will receive a free season pass, a free t-shirt and have their in-game photo put on display at the Ubisoft Montreal offices. A printed version of the photo will also be made available through Cook & Becker, an art dealer.

Ubisoft has a lot of work cut out for it, given that the press release states that gamers have already snapped 20 million pictures in the game. To help add some personality and originality to the photos, there are also 17 different filter tools available, as well.

There are some remarkably good photographs taken by some gamers, including one shot from user Heraldry100 that not only really captures the essence of the game, but also captures the impeccable amount of detail that Ubisoft implemented into Assassin's Creed: Origins.

You can view some of the submissions that have been posted by some users already that the Ubisoft dev team have taken a liking to by visiting the Ubisoft blog.

The competition will likely be fierce, but if you think you have the skills to make your photo creations visible to the rest of the community you can start snapping shots right now in Assassin's Creed: Origins and uploading them now online.

You can use the Photo Mode in the PS4 version, the Xbox One version and the PC version. Obviously, if you have a super high-end rig, you'll get the best results on PC with native 4K -- 8K resolution. You'll have up until January to take part in the contest.
