Neowiz Working On Next-Gen MMO, Licenses xaitMap AI Toolset
You may or may not remember not long ago that xaitment Studios was given $1.6 million to design and enhance AI pathfinding modules and middleware tools for next-generation software on next-generation consoles and PCs.
Neowiz has recently announced that they have licensed the pathfinding AI software, xaitMap, from xaitment for their undisclosed, next-gen MMO project. This follows closely behind their licensing of the Unreal Engine 3 for their other upcoming game, Bless.
It’s hard to tell where this new Neowiz project stands in the development phase, but if they’re licensing middleware tools geared toward next-gen platforms, is it possible that their new title is multiplatform as well? I mean, there are dozens of other pathfinding tools out there, but using one specifically tailored toward newer systems is definitely enough to pique interest.
The new project will also run the xaitMap tool in conjunction with the Havok Vision Engine, which means dynamic physics-based opportunities and great graphics to boot.
Director of Neowiz Games, Lee, Jang-choel, shared a few thoughts on the licensing collaboration, saying…
Well, I for one can’t wait to see what the new project will be like and it’s obviously not Bless since that game is running on the UE3. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on further developments regarding Neowiz’s new projects or you can pay a visit to the Official xaitment Website to learn more.
