Andrew Garfield has been bringing Spider-Man to the people, bringing him to the fans. At different stops on the promotional tours for the actor’s new sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Garfield has made headlines by visiting children’s hospitals, or transporting a bus filled with pint-sized Spider-Man fans to the film’s premiere in New York City. But he struck a personal chord with me when Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx and he cast called for kid journalists to come interview them in Manhattan on behalf of Spider-Man 2, giving my 10-year-old son the chance of a lifetime.

Garfield once again plays Peter Parker in this sequel, more confident than he was in the origin story from 2012 but still struggling to balance his personal life – namely, his relationship with Gwen Stacy – and his "professional" life as the crime-fighting superhero. Part of that juggle came into play in my son’s first question, when he asked Garfield what scene ended up being his favorite to film. Surprisingly, it involved taking a bedroom set and flipping it completely on its side.

Because of the amount of charitable work Andrew Garfield and the cast have been doing on this promotional tour, I wanted to ask him about the efforts they were making to bring Spider-Man to the youngest fans. His answer was very touching, and gives us a great look at the man behind the Spider-Man mask.

And finally, P.J. hammered him with a hard question. I admire Andrew Garfield for coming up with such a complicated answer to this budding journalist’s hard-hitting questions!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is in theaters as we speak. You can see our interviews with Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan and Marc Webb here. We also spoke with Emma Stone, but have to save that conversation until Monday, as it is LOADED with Spidey spoilers. Until then, Marvel fans!
