The Artist Proves The Big Winner At The BAFTAs

The big show is almost here. On Sunday February 26th, millions of people will gather around, eat some party mix, whip out their ballots, and watch some of the most talented artists in filmmaking get rewarded for their hard work and skill at the Academy Awards. But while we’re not quite there yet, there are some other major awards shows going on. We already had the Golden Globes a few weeks ago, and now we have the results of the British Academy Film Awards, also known as The BAFTAs.

Held today at the Royal Opera House in London and hosted by Stephen Fry, the BAFTAs awarded The Artist with the most gold statues, the film winning in seven of the 12 categories it was nominated in. Another big winner included Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy, which took home Outstanding British Film (Gary Oldman, sadly, lost out to Jean Dujardin). Eric Eisenberg is the Assistant Managing Editor at CinemaBlend. After graduating Boston University and earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism, he took a part-time job as a staff writer for CinemaBlend, and after six months was offered the opportunity to move to Los Angeles and take on a newly created West Coast Editor position. Over a decade later, he's continuing to advance his interests and expertise.
