New Civil War Video Shows Cap's Journey Through The MCU

Out of all the characters in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, none has gone on a longer journey than Steve Rogers. From his humble, scrawny beginnings in the early 1940s, The First Avenger has become one of the MCU’s most heroic and reliable players. It’s been an emotional ride that will undoubtedly come to a head in Captain America: Civil War. Luckily for us fans, a new video has just hit the web highlighting Cap’s journey through the MCU. Check it out below to see for yourself.

Take a moment to wipe your tears after watching that video. The trailer moves chronologically though Steve Rogers’ journey, starting with his earliest days before his participation in Project Rebirth during the events of Captain America: The First Avenger. Highlighting his glory days during the Second World War, the trailer then shows how he became frozen, and the subsequent disillusionment he felt upon being thawed out by Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. Final few sequences of the trailer showcase the brotherhood between Steve and Bucky Barnes, and the way that brotherhood will come into conflict with Tony Stark in Civil War.

One of the most interesting things to note about the entire trailer is the way it puts the entire MCU into context. Many people seem to forget that Cap and Howard Stark were good friends, and arguably had a deeper relationship than Tony and Howard had. The fact that Bucky Barnes may be the one responsible for the death of Howard Stark will almost certainly come into play during the events of Captain America: Civil War. Cap and Iron Man will probably react very differently to that revelation, leading to the film’s climactic showdown.

If that trailer doesn’t get you excited for Captain America: Civil War, then pretty much nothing will. Captain America has become one of the most important characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the story of Civil War will probably represent his magnum opus. It’s sometimes easy to get caught up in the badass action of these movies, and subsequently forget the emotional weight that Marvel Studios has injected into them. Out of all the heroes in the MCU, Cap has pretty much gone on the longest, and hardest journey of them all.

Only one long, grueling week left to go, comic book fans; the major Marvel superhero smack down will blast its way into theaters on May 6.
