First Look: Uma Thurman In Motherhood

So apparently AICN thinks that any woman with an updo and a pair of glasses looks like Sarah Palin. That's the assumption they're making as they debut the first still from Motherhood, a comedy in which Uma Thurman plays a harried mom on the ultimate busy day. I mean, it's not the worst comparison in the world, but mostly I think Uma looks like Uma in bad need of a blowdryer.

You can see the larger version of the picture at right here, and see if it intrigues you enough to see the movie, which debuts at Sundance in January. Thurman plays a New York City mom and blogger who spends one day both planning her six-year-old daughter's birthday party and trying to become a columnist for the upscale parenting magazine Lunchbox. There's also some drama with her best friend (Minnie Driver) and her husband (Anthony Edwards), and apparently a lot of the usual NYC headaches. Not sure if in these recession times audiences are still hungry for stories about rich New Yorkers, but director Katherine Dieckmann's earlier film Diggers showed some nice insight, so I'm willing to give this one the benefit of the doubt. We'll see what our intrepid Sundance reporters have to say about it come January.
