Is Jessica Alba Replacing Rose McGowan In Space?

If you haven't been following the latest gossip about Planet Terror director Robert Rodriguez and actress Rose McGowan-- and really, why would you be?-- here's the scoop. They've over! Or not! It depends on who you believe, after The New York Post broke the story of their breakup and People debunked it the next day.

What makes this more interesting than most celebrity breakup stories is that McGowan is set to star in three of Rodriguez's upcoming projects, including the high-profile Barbarella remake that reportedly won't be made until Rodriguez agrees to cast someone more famous than his girlfriend. Now Perez Hilton, getting his information from WENN, thinks the breakup will be a convenient way for Rodriguez to ditch McGowan as his leading lady and replace her with... wait for it... Jessica Alba.

Yup, Jessica Alba is seen as the only woman fit to reprise Jane Fonda's iconic role as the sexiest woman in space. I think I speak for most of us when I say: Blech. Rose McGowan isn't exactly the most talented actress out there, but she at least has some kind of recognizable personality, unlike the bland being that is Alba. I don't know exactly how I feel about McGowan getting the Barbarella role strictly because she's sleeping with the director, but at least she might have taken it in an interesting direction. With Alba, though, you know exactly what you're going to get: a pretty face and awkward acting.

I could really care less if Rodriguez and McGowan stay together, and I wouldn't mind seeing him branch out and cast someone other than his ladyfriend in one of his projects. But please, let's leave Jessica Alba out of this. It's for everyone's own good.
