Luhrman Puts A Cowboy Hat On Kidman

The first picture from the set of Baz Luhrman’s new flick Australia has hit the internet over at the Daily Telegraph. Look right and you’ll see a small version of it. Yes, it’s that rather boring pic of Nicole Kidman wearing a pseudo cowboy hat.

Alright, so there’s not much to the image but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be fired up about Australia. Love him or hate him, there aren’t many filmmakers more unique than Baz Luhrman, and it’s been an unforgivably long six years since we’ve seen anything from him. Baz takes his time about making movies, which is probably why he’s only finished three so far.

Australia set in pre-World War II northern Australia and follows an English aristocrat (Nicole Kidman) who inherits a sprawling ranch and reluctantly pacts with a cattle driver (Hugh Jackman) to protect her new property from a takeover plot. As the pair drive 2,000 head of cattle over unforgiving landscape, they experience the bombing of Darwin (the town not Charles) by Japanese forces.

Shooting began on the film just this week, so expect to see more from it soon.
