Anne Hathaway Has The Perfect Way To Celebrate The Devil Wears Prada’s 10th Anniversary

Every once in a while a movie comes along that has a major impact, not just on the audience, but on the people who made it. The Devil Wears Prada was one of those films, as Anne Hathaway says it changed her life. To celebrate the film's 10th anniversary, the actress dropped a GIF on social media that spotlights her co-star Meryl Streep, and says really everything about the movie that needs to be said.

In The Devil Wears Prada, Meryl Streep portrays Miranda Priestly, a tyrant of the fashion industry who has little time for anybody she doesn't view as important. This includes her own assistant, Andy Sachs, memorably played by Anne Hathaway. "That's all" was her traditional line for dismissing Hathaway from her presence.

While there's never really been a time that Anne Hathaway was not a movie star, it's difficult to argue that The Devil Wears Prada wasn't a career defining movie for her. Her first feature was Disney's The Princess Diaries which was a smash hit back in 2001. From there, she would go on to make a sequel and the similarly minded Ella Enchanted. While Hathaway starred in the decidedly not family friendly Havoc, and had a supporting role in Brokeback Mountain, in 2005, it was Prada the next year that gave her the opportunity to transition to a more mature role, that was also a major lead performance.

The Devil Wears Prada was also a huge hit in its own right. On a meager $35 million budget, the film grossed almost $125 million in North America and more than $325 million around the world. While the movie never hit number one at the box office, as it was up against traditional summer releases like Superman Returns and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men's Chest, it's strategy as summer counter-programming paid off and it remained near the top of the box office for several weeks. Meryl Streep won a Golden Globe for her performance in the film and was nominated for an Oscar as well.

From there, Anne Hathaway has become one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood. Two years later, she would receive her first Academy Award nomination. She became so popular around the time that she won an Academy Award for Les Miserables, that the most popular thing about her was the vocal dislike of the actress. Generally, it's safe to say that you've made it Hollywood when a bunch of people decide the cool thing is to hate you.

Ten years later, it's clear that The Devil Wears Prada still resonates with fans. Meryl Streep's performance in the film may be one of her most memorable, which is saying something considering the number of great roles Streep has had. Anne Hathaway certainly remembers her experience making the film fondly. And that's the ideal GIF. That's all!
