Where Man Of Steel 2 Is In Its Development, According To Amy Adams

In just one year's time the DC Extended Universe has gone from abstract to concrete, with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad bringing the universe to the forefront this past summer. The DCEU had a backdoor debut with 2013's Man of Steel, and fans have been wondering if Superman would be getting another solo movie sometime in the future. The development has been a bit of a mystery thus far, with DC ensuring that Man of Steel 2 would go into production... eventually. The cast and crew of Man of Steel are constantly asked questions about DC's plan for the sequel, including Lois Lane herself, Amy Adams.

Amy Adams recently sat down with Hey U Guys to publicize for her upcoming movie Arrival. Of course, the subject of her DCEU future came up and when asked about Man of Steel 2, she said the following:

I read about Man of Steel 2 when you guys did. A lot of times I find out after the fact which is fine. It's completely normal; It's not indicative of anything. I know they're working on a script, and I know it's in the works apparently.

It looks like Amy Adams isn't exactly cued into the first line of communication within the DCEU. But Man of Steel 2 is happening, and they're apparently still working on the script.

This lack of communication seems to be indicative of the DC Extended Universe's infancy. While they're eager to compete with the likes of the MCU, DC only really got into the connected universe game recently.

The folks over at DC seem to still be finding their footing in the universe as a whole. While Zack Snyder led the charge with Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, his signature morose tone, muted colors, and long run time grated on moviegoers and critics alike. In response to the negative criticism BvS garnered, DC made some major changes behind the scenes, taking away from of Snyder's power and giving DC grand poobah Geoff Johns more control over where the various properties will go. Zack Snyder will still direct Justice League (which will feature Amy Adams' Lois Lane), but the superhero team up flick is set to have more levity than his previous two ventures.

It should be interesting to see what role Lois Lane has in the DCEU moving forward. While critics enjoyed how Lois isn't the stereotypical victim that we normally see, she received some negative feedback in regards to her role in Batman v Superman. Many believed that Lois didn't belong in the climactic battle with Doomsday- taking focus away from the DC Trio who were kicking ass and taking names. Will Lois become involved in the workings of the Justice League a la Claire Temple in the MCU? Or will she remain a reporter with her plot forever linked with Henry Cavill's Clark Kent?

Amy Adams' next adventure in the DCEU will be Justice League, which is set to fly into theaters November 16th, 2017.
