The Marvel Cinematic Universe is an ever expanding place. The shared universe has got its release schedule down to science, premiering a new blockbuster every few months to massive box office performance and critical success. The next movie coming down the pipeline of the MCU is Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok, which will be the thunderous Avenger's third solo film. But he won't be exactly alone in his misadventures in Sakaar, as he'll be joined by Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Hulk. Although Ruffalo may be on Marvel's shit list today, as he accidentally streamed a portion of the threequel during last night's world premiere.
Mark Ruffalo was one of the few folks at the premiere who were given access to a cellphone, which he was using to amp up excitement for Thor: Ragnarok with the droves of Marvel fans on social media. After engaging with fans on Instagram Live, he reportedly placed his phone in his pocket, but forgot to end the stream. According to THR, around 2,500 of Ruffalo's followers being able to hear the opening scenes from the film, before the feed abruptly ended.
While the Instagram Live video was eventually taken down, the audio has no doubt been ripped and is currently making the rounds on piracy websites. Luckily it's just audio, so there likely wasn't much spoiled during Mark Ruffalos' snafu. But I'm sure MCU actors are getting a memo about this type of accident this morning.
There are still quite a few weeks until Thor: Ragnarok finally arrives in theaters, so this mistake had the potential to do some damage at Marvel. New MCU installments are always highly pirated, as crappy bootlegs often become accessible within the first day or two of its release. And while the shared universe still makes buckets of money at the box office, Marvel Studios try to keep movies' contents mostly under wraps until fans can get to the theater.
Thor: Ragnarok has already been garnering praise from early screeners, with many claiming the threequel to be the strongest installment in the franchise. Director Taika Waititi has been trying to make his Thor movie more lighthearted than its predecessors, which seems to have succeeded. The film also features a great mixture of new and recurring characters. In addition to Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston's Loki will once again show up alongside returning players Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, and Karl Urban. Joining them are newcomers Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson, and Jeff Goldblum. What a cast.
The upcoming threequel will see Thor stripped of his hammer and electric powers, and forced to battle on Sakaar's fighting pits for The Grandmaster. He must attempt to escape and return to Asgard in order to save it from destruction, getting help from a motley crew of heroes and villains along the way.
Thor: Ragnarok will arrive in theaters on November 3, 2017. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your trips to the movies in the New Year.
