Edgar Wright Has A Cameo In Star Wars: The Last Jedi, And He Just Revealed Who He Plays

The new Star Wars movies have gotten in the habit of filming celebrity cameos, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi was no exception. From Tom Hardy putting on stormtrooper armor to Joseph Gordon-Levitt recording a voice cameo, there were quite a bit of well-known faces who popped by briefly lend their talents to Episode VIII, either in front of the camera or out of its sight. Now we can add director Edgar Wright to that lineup, as he is now officially part of the Star Wars canon as a Resistance soldier.

You may not be able to spot Edgar Wright duringStar Wars: The Last Jedi given how fast-paced the movie is at times, but rest assured, he was hanging around in Resistance gear, and he was joined by his brother Oscar, fellow director Joe Cornish and Baby Driver associate producer Leo Thompson. The Last Jedi began shooting in February 2016, and by that June, Wright and his fellow creators were costumed up and ready to aid the Resistance. Sure we may not know what Wright's character was named, but at least we can take comfort knowing that he played his part in trying to overthrow a tyrannical regime with impressive firepower. Since Simon Pegg already appeared in The Force Awakens as Unkar Plutt, now J.J. Abrams just needs to find a way for Nick Frost to cameo in Episode IX, and this Star Wars trilogy will have full Cornetto representation.

Warning: MAJOR SPOILERS for Star Wars: The Last Jedi are ahead!

Unfortunately for Edgar Wright and the other Resistance fighters in the above picture posted on Wright's Twitter page, their characters have almost certainly passed to the great beyond. Over the course of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Resistance was slowly picked off by The First Order, leaving Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, Leia Organa, Chewbacca, BB-8 and a small group of others as the sole survivors of this freedom fighting force. However, due to Luke Skywalker's actions and how the Crait battle concluded, Leia assured everyone else that this was enough to reignite the rebellion. As Poe Dameron said, they are the spark that will light the fire that will burn the First Order down.
