The Oscars Led To More Porn Searches About Jennifer Lawrence And Of Course, Kumail Nanjiani

Millions of people tuned into the Academy Awards on Sunday night to watch The Shape Of Water take home Best Picture honors. Many millions more did not, though apparently among those people who did not, quite a few still used the Oscars as pornography inspiration. That's right. It's everyone's favorite every now and again article where we examine how a particularly big event altered the way people decided to get off on Pornhub. As always, the answers are fascinating. You can check out the full graph of search term alterations below...

Pornhub Oscars

The short answer here is people were, of course, inspired to search for the celebrities that showed up during the ceremony. So, Jennifer Lawrence's appearance led to a spike in Jennifer Lawrence searching. Margot Robbie's appearance led to a spike in Margot Robbie searching, and of course, the same could be said for Kumail Nanjiani.

Wait, what?

So, there are two possibilities here based on Pornhub's list. The first is that there are a whole lot of people out there (beyond just Emily V Gordon) who can't get enough of the actor. If that's the case, we need to just own this as a society. Maybe Kumail Nanjiani is emerging as America's newest sex symbol. If so, we should just embrace that. We should push aside all the old standbys like Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Denzel Washington (and I guess Blake Shelton) and embrace a new future where we lust after Kumail Nanjiani. Maybe even a future where he starts competing against them for roles. Let's bring up a picture so we can get the full effect too.

Dinesh From Silicon Valley

Or the second possibility is these spikes are because someone uploaded The Big Sick onto Pornhub a few months ago, and Kumail Nanjiani had a hilarious tweet about it that went super viral. Honestly, it could go either way. We'll probably never know. As such, I prefer to live in a world where people decide they want to get off and immediately start thinking about Dinesh from Silicon Valley. Now and again, 2018 is the best.

A few other observations here. Part of me wants to know what actually comes up when people search "Oscars" on Pornhub. Like is there actually Oscar-related content, or do you just get a bunch of porn scenes involving dudes named Oscar? Hold on. I'm gonna look. I need to for science.

OK. I'm back. It's a mix of nude scenes from Oscar-nominated movies, porn scenes involving casting agents and compilations of times various nominated stars have been naked in prior movies. You're welcome for taking it upon myself to solve that big mystery.

Also, part of me wants to know whether people were more into Jodie Foster last night because she had the crutches. Is this a thing people are into? Probably. I think everything is someone's thing. Regardless, she looks absolutely amazing and in no way like what any of us expect a 55-year-old woman to look like. Well played.

Anyway, congratulations to all the winners on Sunday night and to all the folks lucky enough to make this esteemed Pornhub list. Something you're doing is working for someone.
