Ryan Reynolds Used The Deadpool 2 Trailer To Troll His Wife Blake Lively

deadpool 2 trailer

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively happen to have the sort of relationship that should give most other people relationship goals. The two seem fairly goofy together, and often bring humor into their respective social media posts. But why stick to social media when you can troll one another on a much wider platform? This week, the first full-length Deadpool 2 trailer dropped, and Ryan Reynolds and co. made sure to mention one of Blake Lively's most popular movies in the trailer. Here's the quote:

Doing the right thing is messy, but if you wanna fight for what's right, sometimes you have to fight dirty. And that is why Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is pure pornography.

Speaking to his pal Dopinder and his new co-worker of sorts Domino, Wade Wilson offers some sage advice about fighting dirty, noting that the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movies is "pure pornography." You may already know that the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants franchise movies are among Blake Lively's most famous gigs; she starred as Bridget in two movies in 2005 and 2008. In addition, the cast is still fond of one another, and even reunited a few months ago. The reference itself is a can't miss moment in the trailer, and one that totally harkens back to all of the fun digs the two have taken at one another in the past.

Over the holidays this year, Blake Lively took her own dig at her partner and his cookie decorating skills.

The playful banter came just a few months after Ryan Reynolds wished his wife a happy birthday... by cropping her out of a photo.

Over the years, we've seen continuous back and forth such as this from the two married actors, but it's pretty next level to figure out how to troll your wife in the trailer for your upcoming blockbuster film. Of course, Deadpool 2 is the perfect project for this sort of reference. The first movie in the franchise had over 100 Easter eggs and references, according to Ryan Reynolds himself, and Wade Wilson is a character who cracks pop culture jokes on the regular. In fact, it's a little surprising there wasn't some sort of Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants joke in the first movie, so it's nice to see one pop up in an early trailer for the sequel.

If you haven't caught the trailer for Deadpool 2 yet, you can take a look, below.

Deadpool 2 is hitting theaters on May 18, and we expect to see and hear quite a few more references when the movie does finally hit theaters. In the meantime, you can take a look at what we know about the 20th Century Fox movie with our full guide.
