New Incredibles 2 Video Introduces Some Of The Sequel's New Superheroes

The Incredibles arrived in late 2004, when the superhero movie genre was still in the early stages of popularity. During the movie, Mr. Incredible discovered that many of his allies from years past had been killed by Syndrome, and by the end, we were led to believe that only the Incredible family and Frozone were the only superheroes still around. But 14 years later (though it takes place immediately after its predecessor), Incredibles 2 is introducing many new superheroes to launch a new generation of crimefighting, and you can meet some of these costumed characters in the video below.

As we've learned in the Incredibles 2 previews, one of the sequel's main plot points is Bob Odenkirk's Winston Deavor and Catherine Keener's Evelyn Deavor wanting to bring back "supers" following years of the government forcing them to stay hidden in plain sight. With help from Helen Parr, a.k.a. Elastigirl, the Deavors are launching a campaign to improve the reputation of "supers" among the public, and wouldn't you know it, this is coinciding with a lot of new superheroes stepped into the limelight. Arguably the most prominent of these crimefighters, is Voyd, who is voiced by Sophia Bush and can create voids through which objects can disappear and reappear, but as you see in this video, other newcomers include The Indestructible Brick, The High-Flying Screech and Super Senior Reflux. These are just the starting lineup, so rest assured, you'll see plenty of other fresh faces wearing colorful costumes and rocking special abilities.

All these new superheroes running about is a double-edged sword. On the one hand (and maybe I'm just biased as a comic book fan), but it'll be great to have new crimefighters on the job to protect the innocent, even though that will occasionally (oh who am I kidding, frequently) result in property damage. On the other hand, a super villain called The Screenslaver has emerged to hypnotize the world through their screens, and I fear a few of these new superheroes will find themselves under Screenslaver's control, requiring the members of the Incredible family or Frozone to incapacitate them. Regardless, in an era where there are numerous super heroes battling evildoers on the big screen, most of whom exist within shared universes, it's fitting that Incredibles 2 is bringing in even more "supers" into the mix, though it remains to be seen how many will be around when the sequel ends.

Incredibles 2 opens in theaters on June 15, so stay tuned to CinemaBlend for more news regarding this movie in these remaining weeks. In the meantime, take a look through our 2018 release schedule so you can see what else is coming out this year.
