Of Course Jennifer Garner Wants A Role In Star Wars: Episode IX

Now that cameras have started to roll on Star Wars: Episode IX, we have watched the film slowly but surely come together. A key part of that process has involved casting new characters, and it looks like J.J. Abrams has called up some of his old collaborators like Keri Russell and Dominic Monaghan to fill out the film's ensemble. With that in mind, we recently sat down with Jennifer Garner during the press day for her new movie, Peppermint, to ask her if she would also be interested in reuniting with Abrams for the project, and of course, she explained that she is very interested. Garner told us:

Now that you mention it, I'm gonna have to just call J.J. up and say where's my turn!? I mean, I would do anything with J.J., and Star Wars is Star Wars, but I'm not holding my breath.

So, she's not necessarily expecting a call, but it sounds like Jennifer Garner would be all in on a role in Star Wars: Episode IX. No official offer has been made, but she has a full understanding of the sheer clout that the Star Wars franchise carries in Hollywood, so she's obviously interested in getting involved -- if that's on the table.

If J.J. Abrams calls up Jennifer Garner for a role in Star Wars: Episode IX, it will represent a glorious reunion after their iconic partnership on Alias. The show ran for five seasons on ABC and helped solidify the status of Garner and Abrams as Hollywood royalty. Considering the fact that Abrams has gone back to the Felicity and Lost wells in his casting of Episode IX (not to mention his work on Mission: Impossible III with the casting of Simon Pegg in The Force Awakens), it would be fascinating to see what Garner could do by joining these frequent Abrams collaborators.

For now, audiences can look forward to Jennifer Garner's return to the action genre with the release of Peppermint. From Pierre Morel, the director of Taken, the film centers its story on a mother who forges herself into a badass killing machine to take on a cartel that killed her husband and daughter five years earlier.

At this point, we still have no idea if Jennifer Garner will get a call from J.J. Abrams asking her to be in Star Wars: Episode IX, but she definitely is interested in the possibility. That film will debut in theaters next year on December 20, 2019, and as for Garner's current work, you can catch her in Peppermint, which opens in theaters on September 7.
