Vin Diesel Shares First Glimpse At His Bloodshot Character

Marvel and DC will be getting some competition in 2020 in the form of Bloodshot, a character from the Valiant comics line. The movie is intended to kickstart a shared cinematic universe and stars Vin Diesel in the title role. We've still got a ways to go before the film arrives in theaters, but Diesel has got us covered! The actor shared the first look of himself in character as Bloodshot. Check it out.

Yup, that's Vin Diesel alright.

Honestly, it's hard to get excited for a photo of Vin Diesel in sunglasses and probably wasn't the image of Bloodshot that people were hoping to see. It's all about baby steps, and it's still probably a bit too early to see what the actual superhero will look like on film.

Vin Diesel shared the photo of his superhero character to his Instagram account. The actor shared a few details on the character and why he was one of the most complex people Diesel has ever played before:

Ray Garrison is a central character in the Valiant Comic Universe... And for me personally, one of the [most] complex characters I have been fortunate enough to play. Hope to make you proud... [...] Let the Valiant era begin... #Bloodshot2020 #BLOODSHOT

The photo is of Bloodshot in his human form of Ray Garrison. The character is an everyman who was injected with nanites that gave him incredible abilities like healing, super strength, and durability. It also made his skin turn chalk white and a red circle formed on his chest. Bloodshot is also a trained soldier, possessing expert hand-to-hand combat and marksman skills.

Reportedly, Bloodshot will be a more character-driven film that centers on Vin Diesel's Ray Garrison. Diesel, who is no stranger to comic book roles (I am Groot!), was attracted to the part because of the character's everyman quality. Even after he is transformed by nanites, he is unwilling to give up his humanity.

Not too many plot details are known about the movie at this point. We know that Bloodshot is the first of a planned shared universe of Valiant comics characters. Other films that will follow Bloodshot (assuming that it's successful) include Harbinger, Shadowman, Faith, and Archer & Armstrong.

Bloodshot is directed by Dave Wilson and written by Eric Heisserer. In addition to Diesel, the cast includes Toby Kebbell, Lamorne Morris, Guy Pearce, Eiza Gonzalez, Sam Heughan, Talulah Riley, Alex Hernandez, and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson.

Bloodshot is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 21, 2020. There are plenty of movies to keep all of us occupied until then. Learn about everything coming to theaters this year in our handy 2019 release schedule. For more movie news, keep it right here at CinemaBlend.
