Even Editors On Wikipedia Are Debating About The Snyder Cut

Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Batman and Flash in Justice League

At this point, Justice League is talked less about being an entry in the DC Extended Universe and more about what could have been. Nearly two years after its release, the chatter surrounding Zack Snyder’s original vision for Justice League, a.k.a. the Snyder Cut, hasn’t died down, to the point that there were advertisements for it at this past San Diego Comic-Con.

Given that the version of Justice League that was released in theaters differed heavily from how the story was originally supposed to unfold, it makes sense that a section of the movie’s Wikipedia page would be dedicated to these differences. However, now a debate has unfolded about whether or not the Snyder Cut warrants its own page.

The ‘Versions of Justice League’ Wikipedia page is currently being considered for deletion, the reason being that it goes into “such excessive detail on every tiny aspect” of this version of the movie, delivering facts that only the most dedicated fans of Zack Snyder would appreciate. User Gragus-SCP believes that such a detailed article on a topic like this is unnecessary, and declared that this reeks of “fan bias.”

This has been countered by accessions of “editor bias,” and a lot of folks are voting for this page to be kept intact. In particular, a passionate back-and-forth has unfolded under the original request to delete the ‘Versions of Justice League’ page, but it remains to be seen whether or not the Wikipedia page will be removed.

Either way, if you’re wondering just how different the theatrical version of Justice League differs from what Zack Snyder planned to deliver, this page goes into a lot of detail on the subject. Seriously, A LOT. There’s also information on all the scenes removed from and added for the theatrical cut, what Snyder’s Justice League 2 and 3 would have been about and even a blurb on the Justice League: Black Suit Edition fan edit that’s coming out later this year.

When Zack left the Justice League production, Joss Whedon (who was already doing rewrites) was tasked with helming the movie’s reshoots. As a result, much of material from principal photography was removed, new scenes were added and the movie was trimmed from approximately three and a half hours to exactly two hours.

Upon being released in November 2017, Justice League was met with mixed-to-negative reviews and underwhelmed at the box office, which fueled the demand that Warner Bros released the version of the movie that better reflected Snyder’s vision. As things stand now, Warner Bros still doesn’t plan on releasing the Snyder Cut to the masses, but if the studio changes its mind, you can be sure that CinemaBlend will let you know about it.
