Watch The Rock Seemingly Confirm Hobbs And Shaw Cameos With His Eyes

Dwayne Johnson in Hobbs and Shaw

Warning: potential SPOILERS for Hobbs and Shaw are ahead! If you want to go into the movie completely fresh, turn back now and read through another one of our fine articles.

Nowadays it’s become more common for a major motion picture, blockbusters in particular, to include fun and cool cameos. Naturally they don’t have a ton of screen time, but it’s nonetheless fun to see these individuals pop in. It looks like Hobbs and Shaw, the first Fast and Furious spinoff, has a few such appearances sprinkled in, and if we’re to believe Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and his eyes, we now know who they are. Check it out.

During Dwayne Johnson’s visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the eponymous host read off five names to the Hobbs and Shaw star. While the actor couldn’t outright comment on these cameos that “set up the future team,” he could simply react to the list of names and we could figure things out from there.

The wrestling star-turned-Hollywood heavyweight barely reacted when Jimmy Fallon mentioned Beyonce, Oprah Winfrey and Cardi B, but he did arch his eyebrow and smile when he heard Kevin Hart and Ryan Reynolds. So Dwayne Johnson can technically say he didn’t spoil these cameos, but his face gives it all away.

One can imagine that Dwayne Johnson got permission ahead of time from some bigwig at Universal to reveal these names, passing them along to Jimmy Fallon and his team before the interview started. After all, Hobbs and Shaw is about to come out, so that information was going to become public soon enough. Besides, even with Kevin Hart and Ryan Reynolds being mentioned, we still don’t know specifically how they fit into the spinoff.

Kevin Hart has become one of Dwayne Johnson’s most frequent costars, with the two of them having worked together on Central Intelligence, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and the upcoming Jumanji: The Next Level. In hindsight, it looks like Johnson teased Hart’s Hobbs and Shaw cameo on social media last November.

As for Ryan Reynolds, he and Dwayne Johnson haven’t worked together yet, though given how they’re both popular Hollywood actors, surely their paths crossed many times pre-Hobbs and Shaw at awards shows, special events, etc. However, they will soon collaborate on Netflix’s forthcoming action movie Red Notice, which will also star Gal Gadot.

Keep in mind that there could be some extra cameos in Hobbs and Shaw that are still being kept under wraps, so keep a close eye out. As for the main cast, along with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham reprising Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw, respectively, the lineup includes Vanessa Kirby as Hattie Shaw, Idris Elba as Brixton Lore. Eiza González as Madame M and Helen Mirren as Magdalene Shaw.

Hobbs and Shaw is now playing in preview screenings and will open wide tomorrow. Be sure to read CinemaBlend’s review of the movie and look through our 2019 release schedule to learn what hits theaters later this year.
