After a long year of waiting, the Marvel Cinematic Universe returned to theaters with Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow. There are a number of highly anticipated projects coming down the line, chief among them being Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. And a new set video revealed the return of a beloved Wakandan location.
While filming on Black Panther 2 hasn’t begun yet, the pre-production phase is in full swing. Sets are being constructed, and a new video that arrived online seemingly shows the Throne Room being put back together. Of course the question is: who exactly will be ruling Wakanda?
The video from Twitter has circulated online, and shows the stunning sets of Wakanda coming back together. Black Panther is known for its unique visual language, with the Vibranium-infused society far more advanced than ours. The story of Wakanda Forever currently remains a mystery, but these updates should still thrill a rabid fanbase that’s so curious about how Ryan Coogler is approaching his sequel.

Chadwick Boseman’s death is still very much being mourned by both the public and those who knew the late actor. This tragedy caused Ryan Coogler to rework his plans for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, while also still feeling the emotions that come with that loss. Coogler has gone so far as to call it the most difficult task of his professional life, so feelings are sure to be raw once photography begins.
Given Marvel’s notoriously tight security, the plans for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever are currently a total mystery to the public. But those involved with the upcoming project have universally praised Ryan Coogler’s vision, while also very much feeling the loss of Chadwick Boseman. With T’Challa presumably passing away in-universe, smart money says the performances in Black Panther 2 are going to be especially heartbreaking.

As previously mentioned, one of the biggest questions surrounding Black Panther’s sequel is exactly who will take on the mantle, and therefore rule Wakanda. The fictional country’s traditions were at the heart of the first movie, and there are some prime candidates to be the next Panther. Shuri, Okoye, and M’Baku seem like solid choices, but perhaps a new character will be brought into the mix.
The next installment in the MCU is Shang-Chi on September 3rd, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is currently expected to arrive in theaters on July 8th, 2022. In the meantime, check out the 2021 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience
