The Jonas Brothers Finally Admit They're Done Playing Together

In the least shocking break-up announcement since Oasis called it quits, the Jonas Brothers have officially informed the general public they’re finished, at least for the time being. The move comes less than a month after the guys turned heads by cancelling their entire tour just days before it was supposed to get off the ground. That was obviously a gigantic red flag, and now, all of their fans have sad proof of that.

The brothers confirmed the news to People, telling the outlet they held a group meeting on October 3 at the insistence of Nick. He told the other guys he was feeling a bit trapped by the band, and apparently, there wasn’t a whole lot of disagreement. A vote was later held that unanimously dissolved the band, and the guys decided to close the book on the group for now, though they’re all unwilling to say the split is “forever”.

Let’s just be honest. Cancelling their tour three days before it was scheduled to begin was a dick move. That not only hurts all of the fans, it’s a big slap in the face to everyone who was supposed to be a part of the tour. Roadies and background musicians need the steady income of a tour. They don’t just laugh cancellations off like this. That being said, it’s easy to see why the guys might want a break from each other. They deserve to be able to pursue their own interests for awhile and find their own voices musically. Considering they’ll likely discover they can make more money together, however, it would be a shock if we didn’t get at least a few reunion tours moving forward.

Only history will be able to tell for sure how the Jonas Brothers will be remembered, but given their multi-platform success and all the good publicity that generally surrounded them, I think there will be a whole lot more positives than negatives written in the band’s obituary.
