Why Some Fixer Upper Fans Are Scared For Joanna And Chip Gaines’ Pregnancy
With so much fantastic TV content being produced, there seems to be a never ending supply of new shows, renewals, and cancellations. And while shows ending usually causes some hard feelings for its fans, the internet basically exploded when Chip and Joanna Gaines announced they would no longer be filming their HGTV series Fixer Upper. A bevy of reasons were floating around as to why the couple would make this decision, and the plot thickened this week when the couple announced that they're expecting their fifth child. While this news is super exciting, some fans are actually worried about the pregnancy, after Joanna posted the ultrasound on social media.
Earlier this week, Joanna Gaines posted a video of her ultrasound, following Chip's announcement that they were expecting baby number 5. But medically minded Fixer Upper fans began to worry about the baby, as the ultrasound apparently showed some excess fluid around the fetus. This caused some commenters on the post to freak the hell out, and worry that the baby could have mimic hydrops fetalis, which can sometimes be fatal. Check out the video below, and judge for yourself.
Of course, Twitter comments hardly qualify as medical advice. Joanna and Chip Gaines certainly have the means for prime medical care, and probably wouldn't have posted the video of the ultrasound if there was any cause for alarm. Still, the Fixer Upper fandom is absolutely rabid, and seems to be obsessing with Joanna's pregnancy the same way they did with the announcement of the show's conclusion.
TMZ helped break this story, and apparently got the perspective of a radiologist, who looked at Joanna's ultrasound. That individual thought the scan might show skin edema, or excess fluid in the child's skin. But more test would be needed to conclusively decide whether or not baby Gaines was healthy.
Just how hardcore Fixer Upper fans are has really been obvious in the past few months, after Chip and Joanna Gaines announced they'd no longer be filming the hit HGTV show after five seasons. This essentially set fans into a frenzy, as they debated and discussed all the litany of reasons why they might be leaving their series. Was it a divorce? Did they have a disagreement with the network?
Ultimately the couple claimed they wanted to step back from TV and fame to focus on their family. And with a baby on the way and four kids already at home, this might be a very smart idea in order for the TV hosts to keep their sanity.
You can catch all 5 season of Fixer Upper on HGTV and On Demand. CinemaBlend will be sure to update you about Chip and Joanna's news as it becomes public.
