George Clooney Reveals What Happened When He Met Amal

These days, George Clooney is a family man, cracking jokes about how much work babies are, especially twins. However, it was only a few short years ago when he actually met his wife Amal Alamuddin, and the two embarked on a famous romance. Now, Clooney is opening up about what happened when he met Amal, and how she came into his life in the first place as part of an episode of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman. He said:

It was the wildest thing. A mutual friend of ours said, 'I'm stopping by, can I bring my friend?' I was like, 'Of course.' And I got a call from my agent who called me and said, 'I've met this woman who's coming to your house who you're gonna marry.' It really worked out [sic]. The funniest thing was my mom and my dad were visiting so my parents were there, and we just talked. And we stayed up all night, talking. And then, I got her email address because she was going to send some pictures of my parents.

Speaking on David Letterman's new Netflix series, George Clooney reveals he was hooked up with Amal via a mutual friend. He also says his agent knew her, and warned him ahead of time that they might be a match made in heaven. As it turns out, they were, but the formerly bachelor actor known for being super suave was not nearly as suave with Amal. He also told Letterman that he thought he was in the friend zone for a long time.

We started writing and I didn't really know if she wanted to go out with me. I just thought, you know, we were buddies.

Of course, George Clooney is George Clooney, after all. Amal was interested in dating the famous actor, and the rest is history. Clooney was engaged to Amal in 2014, and married her later that year in Italy. Twins Alexander and Ella were born in June of 2017. Now, the Hail, Caesar! actor has put his bachelor days behind him and seems to be happy with where he and his family life are at. (Although they are reportedly done having kids.)
