Angelina Jolie Hints At Career In Politcs

Angelina Jolie Mr. And Mrs. Smith

Angelina Jolie has proven herself in numerous ways over the years. Being a successful actress, director, producer, and humanitarian are some of her vast achievements, and Jolie continues to expand her resume and build careers in many different fields. But her next job title might be her biggest to date: politician. According to recent reports, Jolie is exploring the possibility of getting into the political game. Here is what the actress/filmmaker said.

If you asked me 20 years ago I would've laughed. I really don't know. I always say I'll go where I'm needed. I don't know if I'm fit for politics ... but then I've also joked that I don't know if I have a skeleton left in my closet.

The possibility of Angelina Jolie entering politics is a conversation that came up during an appearance on BBC Radio 4 (via The Guardian). While her quote doesn't suggest that it's a done deal, or that she's seriously considering it at the moment, Jolie certainly isn't turning down the possibility either. It sounds like she has mulled the possibility before, and she is giving it some more thought in recent years. Whether she pursues it, time will soon tell.

Celebrities have obviously been politicians before. Take note of our current president, for instance. Not to mention Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronald Reagan, to name just a few examples from the past few decades. Whether Angelina Jolie joins that company is a question left undecided, but it seems that she's not against the notion.

Additionally, other celebrities like Lindsay Lohan and Dwayne Johnson have recently thought about being politicians. Alec Baldwin has also recently said that he thinks he would become president if he put himself on the ballot. Sounds like the Presidency sounds a bit more accessible to celebs nowadays.

As Angelina Jolie admits, she has been in the limelight for long enough that she thinks she can handle the pressure that comes with being in politics. Furthermore, Jolie is currently a special envoy for the UNHCR, the United Nation's refugee agency. The public figure believes she can work with various politicians and get the reform and change needed to make the world a better, stronger place. For now, she's content with her life as it is now.

So I'm pretty open and out there. I can take a lot on the chin so that's good. But I honestly will do whatever I think can really make change. Right now, I am able to work with a UN agency ... to do a lot of work directly with the people in need. I'm also able to work with governments, so I sit in a very interesting place of being able to get a lot done, without a title and without it being about myself or my policies. So for now I'll sit quiet.

With that, it sounds like there might possibly be Senator Angelina Jolie or President Angelina Jolie in the future. If that possibility were to happen, we'll definitely keep you posted.
