Demi Lovato Opens Up About Why She Used To Cut Herself

After two years of playing her cards close to the vest, new X Factor judge Demi Lovato has finally decided to open up and talk about her battle with self-harm. The singer checked into rehab in 2010 to deal with an eating disorder and cutting, and while she’s talked extensively on the first issue, she’s never really done more than confirm that self-harm was among her personal issues.

In this month’s issue of Self, however, the starlet gets candid about her struggles and finally offers a reason as to why she was drawn to cutting. You can take a look at her explanation below, courtesy of People

"There were times I felt so anxious, almost like I was crawling out of my skin – that if I didn’t do something physical to match the way I felt inside, I would explode. I cut myself to take my mind off that. I just didn’t care what happened. I had no fear."

It’s amazing how far Lovato has come in the two years since she walked away from the public eye. She apparently no longer carries a cell phone, makes an effort to maintain a healthy weight and now, has an impressive job on X Factor. With her talent, drive and charisma, her future looks promising as well.

Pop Blend sends its congratulations out to Lovato as she continues to conquer her issues. Addictions are difficult to get over, and while the fight is hard, being healthy and happy are always worth the effort.
