Did Alec Baldwin Make The Right Call By Quitting Twitter?

Alec Baldwin is a fiery guy. In fact, he’s one of the most opinionated and vocal celebrities in the world, which is probably why he’s had more than his share of problems on Twitter. From rants about photographers to rants about baristas, he’s swore at, screamed at and scolded more than his share of people who crossed him, but today, he may have actually displayed more typed anger than he ever has.

After reading a wild Daily Mail article about how his wife was supposedly tweeting during James Gandolfini’s funeral, the beloved Saturday Night Live host absolutely lost it, sending a stream of angry messages that both denied the accusation and threatened the author. Not long after, Baldwin deleted his account and the tweets in question with them, but luckily, numerous outlets were able to quote them before they came down. You can take a look at a few below, courtesy of Buzzfeed

My wife and I attend a funeral to pay our respects to an old friend, and some toxic Brit writes this fucking trashIf put my foot up your fucking ass, George Stark, but I'm sure you'd dig it too muchI don't have a publicist anymore. I fired them. How much of this shit are people supposed to take? With these fucking blatant lies EVERY DAY.My wife DID NOT use her phone, in any capacity, at our friends funeral. Now, fuck this twitter + good luck to all of you who know the truth

I’m pretty confident Hilaria Baldwin did not tweet during Gandolfini’s funeral. She seems like a pretty classy lady, and I can’t imagine she’d be pulling out her phone at such a formal event. That’s just poor form and unnecessary. Consequently, I can see why Alec would let his feelings be known on Twitter, but unfortunately, such an aggressive outburst puts the focus on his rant rather than what he was actually ranting about.

On the one hand, it might be a good decision for Baldwin to quit Twitter. All it seems to do is create more controversies and more problems for him, and Twitter-related stress is the last thing he needs in his life. Clearly, he has far more important things to worry about—like acting roles. On the other hand, however, all that honesty has really brought Baldwin closer to his fans. Over the past few years, he’s been one of the more engaging personalities on Twitter, often answering fans questions and asking their opinions on various issues.
