WNBA Legend Chamique Holdsclaw Could Spend 65 Years In Jail

More than three months after she allegedly assaulted her ex-girlfriend during an extremely scary public altercation, Chamique Holdsclaw has been hit with a litany of charges over the incident. If convicted on all counts, the former WNBA all-star could spend the rest of her life in jail, but at this point, that’s still an if.

Details on why exactly the altercation happened are still a little bit fuzzy, but apparently, Holdsclaw followed her ex-girlfriend to a local gym and then out to her car. After a heated argument, the ex-WNBA legend allegedly hit the windows with a baseball bat and fired a gun into the car. Thankfully, the other woman, Jennifer Lacy, was not hurt, but her health didn’t stop the police from throwing nearly every possible charge at Chamique.

According to TMZ, the charges against her are two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of criminal damage in the second degree, one count of criminal damage in the first degree and one count of possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony. Altogether, those add up to sixty-five years.

If Holdsclaw decides to plead out, it’s likely she could get a vastly reduced sentence of ten years or so, but it’s unclear whether she’ll be willing to do that. We’ll keep you updated as the case heads toward trial. Pop Blend’s sincerest thoughts go out to everyone involved.
