Disney-ABC's Deals With Netflix And Amazon Prime Include Felicity, Alias And Others

Fans of Disney-ABC Television programming will have cause to celebrate if they’re a subscriber of Netflix’s streaming program or Amazon Prime. Disney-ABC extended their licensing agreement with Netflix and struck a new deal with Amazon, which will make a number of great TV shows available streaming, including Felicity and Alias.

The Hollywood Reporter posted the news, stating that under this deal, Amazon Prime’s instant video library will expand by more than 800 titles, which include programming from ABC Family, ABC Studios, The Disney Channel, and Marvel. Looking to get caught up on ABC Family’s great dramedy series Greek or teen drama The Secret Life of the American Teenager? Those are among the mentioned shows that will be available. ABC’s Lost, Grey’s Anatomy and Felicity were also mentioned, as was Disney Channel’s Phineas & Ferb, which I’ve heard good things about. Might have to check that out. All of these shows appear to be available already on Netflix, however, this certainly improves Amazon Prime's value, and makes it an even bigger competitor to Netflix.

As for Netflix, in addition to extending the deal the streaming video service already had, the new one will add ABC Family’s Switched at Birth and all of the episodes from the excellent (mostly) spy-drama Alias, starring Jennifer Garner. Netflix’s deal will also have episodes from the current season of ABC-Disney’s TV programming available streaming 30 days after the last episode of the season airs, which is great news if there are shows you’re looking to get caught up on between seasons.

When it comes to streaming video, I use Netflix almost exclusively, however, between the growing list of streaming content and the excellent free-two-day shipping option, not to mention the low price tag ($79 a year works out to less than $7 a month), Amazon Prime is looking like a really good deal. Now, if only they’d get on board with TiVo and make their streaming content compatible with TiVo Premiere as Netflix is...
