How The Big Bang Theory Will Kick Off The Season 11 Premiere

Season 10 of The Big Bang Theory left off with a major cliffhanger, so fans have really been wondering how the show will start Season 11 this fall. Now, star Mayim Bialik has let us in on how the series plans to kick things off. Here's what she had to say:

They could have done a thousand different storylines to keep you all waiting...but they pick up right where we left off. And by 'right where we left off,' I mean literally -- RIGHT WHERE WE LEFT OFF. As in: same set, same body position, same robe for me and barely any makeup (Mayim the Actor always wanted to look a bit more made-up when Sheldon proposed but Amy the Character was caught off-guard so, barely any makeup it is!), and I needed to get a hair trim to make sure my hair is the same length as it was 3 ½ months ago! So I won't say more except to say that you definitely get answers in this first episode!

Wow. I have to say, I think this is a perfect choice on the part of those behind the scenes at The Big Bang Theory. The decision not to keep fans wondering about how that epic cliffhanger will be resolved makes a lot of sense. We've already waited several months to see what actually went down, why not go ahead and give us the answers right away?

As you probably remember, the Season 10 finale of The Big Bang Theory saw Sheldon finally present his Meemaw's ring to Amy and propose to her in the the final seconds of the episode. Amy had gone off for a few months to work at Princeton, while Sheldon was at home reconnecting with Dr. Ramona Nowitzki, a former colleague of his who has always had the hots for him. After a full episode of everyone telling Sheldon that Ramona was actually hitting on him, he finally asked her what her intentions were, and when she made it clear that she was, in fact, totally after his nerdy body by kissing him full on the mouth, we saw Sheldon react immediately. He asked Ramona to hold on, left the building, went to the airport and hopped on the next flight to New Jersey, only to knock on Amy's door. And, when she opened it, Sheldon was down on one knee asking the question I'm sure she thought she'd never hear.

Mayim Bialik is right when she notes in her from-the-set report, which was posted to her Grok Nation website, that the writers could have put many different storylines in between us and finding out what Amy's response will be. They could have even decided to jump ahead a few days or months in the timeline of the show...oh, who am I kidding? There are no idiots who run The Big Bang Theory. Those folks know there would have been all kinds of geeky hell to pay if they made us wait for answers to what is currently the second biggest event in Big Bang history.

Well, we don't have too much longer to wait to see how Amy reacts to Sheldon's impromptu proposal (especially when she finds out it was spurred on by Ramona's kiss), as The Big Bang Theory will be back on CBS Monday, September 25 at 7 p.m. CST.
