Arrow’s Stephen Amell has revealed his top pick for who should appear in the Arrow-verse’s upcoming crossover, “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” There is no crisis with his selection. Fans will definitely approve of who Amell wants to have take part in the already-buzzed-about event. Without any further suspense, this is what Stephen Amell had to say:

I would want Tom Welling. I want what the fans want.

I love this idea! Smallville's Tom Welling is who Stephen Amell told ComicBook.com he would recruit for the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover. Please, let this happen! It is Arrow’s final season and the end of Amell's run as an Arrow-verse leading man. I do not think he is asking for too much. Plus, the fans. Think about the fans!

Whether or not the Arrow-verse will make Stephen Amell’s top pick a reality remains to be seen. As Smallville fans well know, Tom Welling played Clark Kent for all ten seasons of The WB-turned-CW superhero drama. He has not appeared in the Arrow-verse. A moment like that would likely cause internet traffic jams were it to happen.

Earlier this year, fans got excited at the rumored prospect that Tom Welling could be joining Arrow’s eighth and final season. Sadly, nothing official has become of the original reports. That does not mean that Stephen Amell is giving up. He knows that fans want Welling to appear and he does too!

While Tom Welling appearing in the Arrow-verse is far from a sure thing, Superman will loom large in the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover. Not too long ago, it was confirmed that Legends of Tomorrow's Brandon Routh would reprise the role (he played the iconic character in Superman Returns) for it. He will be joined by Supergirl’s Superman, Tyler Hoechlin.

If Tom Welling returned to play the role that would be a triple Superman treat. He was a fantastic Clark Kent/Superman on Smallville, even if he did not ever entirely suit up to be the latter. However, it would be neat for Welling to potentially take on another character. Red Kryptonite Clark, anyone?

Smallville has remained close to the Arrow-verse’s heart. During the “Elseworlds” crossover, the Arrow-verse delivered on Stephen Amell’s promise of a significant Smallville reference. The crossover awesomely paid homage to the trendsetting superhero drama.

Could Tom Welling somehow show up in the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover? I think it is possible. Perhaps a brief cameo at the least. Given all that Welling and his portrayal have meant to the genre, it would be incredible to have him get more than that. If not, there is always that Smallville reboot I think the time is right for. Let’s make it happen!

Arrow will return for its final season with its Season 8 premiere on Tuesday, October 15, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. For now, you can watch the series’ past seasons on Netflix, among other premieres. It will not be that way forever. To keep you satiated while you wait for “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” check out this summer’s premieres.
