The Orville Season 3 has officially launched. Yes, that means filming is just now getting started for the show's expected premiere in late 2020 on Hulu (not Fox). The first table read was held yesterday, with the cast and Powers That Be gathering to give us greatness in several set photos. We must return to the dance! And we shall...

Penny Johnson Jerald (Doctor Claire Finn) got the dance party started, so let's begin with her:

Glorious! The Orville has been great to fans, and it looks like the Season 3 team plans to keep fans in mind -- and keep them updated -- every step of the way.

The official Orville Instagram shared a table read photo with Scott Grimes as Lieutenant Gordon Malloy and Jessica Szohr as Lieutenant Talla Keyali. The second slide shows name cards for Peter Macon as Lieutenant Commander Bortus and Mark Jackson as Isaac.

An Orville fan also helpfully captured several of Jessica Szohr's Instagram stories posts from her return to set. Here's a taste, but you should check out the full thread.

Also yesterday, The Orville editor/co-producer/fan support system Tom Costantino promised more fun would be coming today:

Bring it on!

As you know, The Orville Season 3 will not be airing on Fox. After the bonkers-in-a-good-way Season 2 finale, fans crossed their fingers for a Season 3 renewal. They got it -- and there was much rejoicing -- and then came the news that the show would be moving to Hulu. CinemaBlend just gave several reasons for why the move to Hulu is a great thing, including longer episode times and no restrictions on content.

However -- not to be a Debbie Downer -- it may come with a cost hike for fans used to just seeing The Orville on Fox through their regular TV packages. Plus, not everyone can access Hulu through their TV sets and may have to see The Orville on a smaller-scale, which doesn't seem great when Season 3 doubled down on the production value:

But let's cross the Hulu bridge when we come to it. During New York Comic-Con, it was also revealed that The Orville Season 3 will have longer episodes, more space battles, and Bortus returning to the mic. YOU WILL BE SILENT.

Keep close for more updates on The Orville Season 3, since it may be a full year before the 11-episode season arrives on Hulu. When it does premiere, each episode will arrive one week at a time, not all at once.

Keep up with everything still airing on TV this year with our handy 2019 fall TV premiere schedule.
