Supernatural Jared Padalecki Sam Winchester The CW

Great news! Jared Padalecki will be reuniting with one of his former Supernatural co-stars for his upcoming series. In case you missed it, Padalecki is headlining The CW’s Walker, Texas Ranger reboot in the starring role of Cordell Walker. Ever since getting a series order, the cast for Walker, Texas Ranger, has continued taking shape. Who has joined the cast now?

Deadline reports that veteran actor and The X-Files star Mitch Pileggi has joined the cast of Walker, Texas Ranger in a series regular role. Fresh off of casting Pretty Little Liars’ Keegan Allen as Walker’s brother, the reboot has cast Walker’s father. Yes, that is where Mitch Pileggi comes in! Pileggi will play Bonham Walker.

What is Walker’s dad like on Walker, Texas Ranger? Mitch Pileggi’s Bonham is described as “sturdy” and “conservative.” Bonham is reportedly a third-generation Texas rancher, and he is most in his element while taking care of things on the ranch. Sounds like Yellowstone’s John Dutton and Bonham have something in common!

While an avid family man at his core, Bonham is described as a direct tough-talker, who does not hold back with his children. Mitch Pileggi's casting is incredibly exciting and it is made even more so by the fact that Pileggi and Jared Padalecki already have an on-screen rapport thanks to the soon-to-be-ending hit, Supernatural.

Mitch Pileggi actually played the grandfather of Jared Padalecki’s Supernatural character, Sam Winchester. Pileggi's Samuel Campbell is the father of Sam and Dean’s mother, Mary Winchester. Hence, Samuel is not related to Sam and Dean’s younger brother, Adam. As you might have guessed from the characters' names, Sam is his grandfather’s namesake. Skip to Walker, Texas Ranger, and Pileggi is going from playing Padalecki’s grandpa to his dad!

It should work out wonderfully for the two Supernatural actors. Based on reading the character description for Mitch Pileggi’s Walker, Texas Ranger role, I think Pileggi is a perfect fit. Pileggi starred on TNT’s sensational Dallas reboot as the ex-husband of Bobby’s wife. He was also a primary adversary to the Ewings. Pileggi nailed that role, in my opinion.

Walker, Texas Ranger is continuing to amass a wealth of talent for its first season. Mitch Pileggi’s casting follows that of Lindsey Morgan. The 100 actress is set to star opposite Jared Padalecki in the leading role of Micki. She is one of the first female Texas Rangers in history and Walker’s partner.

The cast of Walker, Texas Ranger is really coming together. It has found Walker’s brother (Keegan Allen), his partner (Lindsey Morgan), and his father (Mitch Pileggi). Walker will be a widower in the reboot and, accordingly, a single father of two. Hence, Pileggi will be playing a grandfather, just not Padalecki’s.

With Supernatural heading towards the finish line, this reunion between two of its stars on Walker, Texas Ranger should provide a bit of comfort. Jared Padalecki has teased how fans will react to the series finale. As for his feelings, Padalecki seemed positive. Whatever comes, fans have not seen the last of Padalecki and Mitch Pileggi sharing the screen!

While you wait for Walker, Texas Ranger to arrive after this winter and spring’s premieres, you can watch Jared Padalecki on Supernatural. It returns on Monday, March 16, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. You can currently watch past seasons of Supernatural via Netflix, along with many 2020 premieres.
