Many know Candace Cameron Bure for her role as level-headed and responsible older sister DJ Tanner on Full House and Fuller House. However, some may have forgotten that before she jumped back into her classic role in 2016, Bure was serving as a panelist on The View. Although the actress says that her time on the popular talk show helped her grow, she recently admitted that it wasn’t the easiest job she’s ever had:
That was a super tough job. It helped me grow a lot, but that was the most difficult job I've had to date… you always feel like you're fighting to speak your opinion.
The View definitely marked a turning point in Candace Cameron Bure’s career. As she further explained to ET, she’s made it a goal to take on mostly family friendly projects. She mentioned that this was something that was instilled in her by her parents.
Even if you’ve never actually watched The View, there’s a good chance you’re at least familiar with its format. The show consists of an all-female panel of commentators who discuss current events and speak with celebrities. The women featured on the panel also differ in their personal backgrounds and political leanings.
With this, there are times when the discussions can get somewhat testy and lead to heated debates among the panelists. The energy of the audience can also help shift things in a certain direction.
The show has its share of veteran panelists but, in recent years, The View has seen a number of pundits come and go. Candace Cameron Bure originally joined the show in 2015 as a conservative panelist. During her tenure, there were instances in which she had words with some of her fellow co-hosts.
As Bure pointed out, there definitely seem to be times when panelists are attempting to make themselves heard. But when you’re on a talk show with people who have strong opinions, it can be hard to get a point across.
Although Candace Cameron Bure may have been eager to jump into Fuller House, there’s a chance the sometimes-tense nature of The View also motivated her to leave the show so soon. But it doesn’t sound like the experience was mostly negative, since Bure made it a point to say that she grew during that time.
What this could mean is that her time as a panelist helped her gain more confidence when speaking with other people. Something like this can also lead to a boost in one’s professional and personal confidence down the road. Of course, this is all just an assumption but, regardless of how it helped her, it’s good to hear that Candace Cameron Bure took something away from her experience.
