For fans curious about what Dempsey has been up to since leaving Grey’s Anatomy back in 2015, he's done some car racing, but now he's heading back to the small screen. In fact, Patrick Dempsey has a new TV series and one that is headed to an unexpected network to air. Dempsey is starring in the upcoming international thriller, Devils which will now be heading to The CW this fall.

Why is Devils heading to The CW such an unexpected choice? Well, the CW is not going to have its usual slate of fall premieres this year. For instance, The Flash is not going to air new episodes this fall. So, The CW is looking outside of its usual schedule of originals for content. It had already acquired the Paul Wesley starrer Tell Me A Story for the fall. Now, Patrick Dempsey’s show is the latest to join the trend with his series, Devils.

It sounds like Patrick Dempsey will be playing a character a world away from McDreamy in it. In Devils, Dempsey stars as Dominic Morgan, the mentor to the Head of Trading at NYL, a powerful investment bank. Dramatic tension ensues when Dominic appoints another person within the firm over his protégé Massimo Ruggero (Alessandro Borghi), and the latter is later implicated as a murder suspect.

The CW viewers can look forward to Patrick Dempsey’s Dominic potentially squaring off with Massimo. That is because Massimo will have to decide whether to stand with or against Dominic as he works to prove his innocence. I do not know about you, but this sounds pretty exciting! Although, this not the first TV show that Dempsey has gotten involved with post-Grey’s Anatomy, it's notable because it wasn't expected to go to The CW in the first place.

Fans of The CW are going to have to wait longer than they usually do for regular programming to resume. So, the network is getting inventive to keep fans entertained with something fresh. Devils sounds outside-the-box and ambitious. However, for a network that has doubled down on superheroes, Devils only has Patrick Dempsey’s charm as its superpower.

Still, the good news is that seeing Patrick Dempsey in a TV show will not require a streaming subscription -- in a world where seemingly every show ends up on one. Instead, Dempsey will be back on network television in what should be a pretty pulse-racing series. Hopefully, for fans, it will not be the last.

Patrick Dempsey has remained busy since Grey’s Anatomy, and it has not all entailed his new show, Devils. Dempsey recently thrilled fans by cameoing in a social distancing picture with his former Grey’s Anatomy co-star, Eric Dane. There is nothing quite like having Dempsey back acting, though, and that is what fans are about to see. Devils is still a bit into the future. Fans will have to wait for this fall to arrive. A premiere date is pending. Devils will air this fall on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW, after this summer’s premieres. You can currently still watch Patrick Dempsey in Grey’s Anatomy on Netflix along with lots of new 2020 content.
