Earlier this month, Last Man Standing fans got the sad news that after surviving cancellation and getting a revival on FOX, Season 9 will be its last. The long-running comedy may not be back until the beginning of next year, but Molly McCook has celebrated the show’s return to filming during COVID. As fans will recall, production was shut down an episode shy of the finale.
It meant leaving Last Man Standing fans on the edge of a cliffhanger as Kristin went into labor, and the Baxters awaited the arrival of their newest member. Even Eve was there! Molly McCook’s post does not reveal if Kaitlyn Dever is back for Season 9. McCook’s glimpse at the set does reveal how things are working during COVID, and the result is pretty interesting. Check out McCook’s post below:
The couch that Molly McCook is sitting on has been sanitized, and she looks satisfied. She also has her script, which holds secrets from Last Man Standing’s final season. The series is clearly taking COVID protocols seriously behind-the-scenes. In front of the camera, Season 9 is set to incorporate the fallout of the coronavirus lockdown. It will be interesting to see what happens next season.
Mandy and Kyle both work at Outdoor Man, which the final season could reveal has been dramatically impacted by COVID. They are a box store, and foot traffic has probably been down there. Between the newest member of the family and the fallout of the coronavirus, Last Man Standing has a lot on its plate for Season 9. The first thing that needs to be tackled is last season’s finale turned next season’s premiere.
Molly McCook’s Mandy and her husband Kyle were among those awaiting the birth of the first Baxter granddaughter. They are actually awaiting a baby of their own. Before last season ended, Mandy and Kyle announced they were expecting their first child. Mandy and Kyle’s baby is one of the storylines that I imagine will be a huge part of Last Man Standing’s final season.
Hopefully, Mike’s younger brother can show up again before the series ends. Tim Allen has said that he wants Mike Rowe back to guest star again on Last Man Standing. It has been a minute since he was on the show last, so fans of the Fox show will have to wait and see what happens.
Season 9 will mark Molly McCook’s third season as Mandy Baxter. She took over for Molly Ephraim when the former ABC comedy made the leap to Fox. Watch McCook in action when Last Man Standing’s final season begins after this fall’s premieres in January 2020 on Fox. Before Season 9 arrives, you can watch past seasons on CMT thanks to syndication or stream them on Hulu.
