Legacies has been packed with nods to The Vampire Diaries and The Originals over the three seasons so far, but the show is going above and beyond with its next episode that puts on a musical that tells the origin story of the Salvatore School. It's not the first show on The CW to go musically meta in a big way, but actress Kaylee Bryant brought a unique perspective to "Salvatore: The Musical!" as a Vampire Diaries superfan, and it turns out that she has one big regret about the episode.

Kaylee Bryant, who plays Josie on Legacies and describes herself as "so obsessed" with The Vampire Diaries, shared the mistake she made while playing Nina Dobrev's Elena for the musical episode with EW:

My only thing is, and I'm going to regret this for the rest of my life, is that in the opening number I was wearing Elena's necklace and I kick myself to this day because she shouldn't have the necklace by then. That's going to drive me crazy for the rest of my life. You see Elena and just associate the necklace with her but Stefan's the one that gives it to her and she meets Stefan with it on in the musical and I'm like, ‘Nooo!’

Alas, the continuity between The Vampire Diaries and Legacies' Salvatore musical isn't going to be perfect! While Kaylee Bryant regrets that she makes her musical debut as Elena wearing the necklace Elena shouldn't have yet when meeting the musical version of Stefan, I think Legacies can get away with it. After all, the students at the Salvatore School surely aren't privy to absolutely everything that happened on The Vampire Diaries, so if anything, it would be unrealistic if they nailed every detail.

They don't exactly have viewers' option of binge-watching on Netflix for a refresher! Besides, many viewers might not have noticed at all if Kaylee Bryant hadn't spoken up about the mistake, but it really shows her dedication to both The Vampire Diaries and Legacies that she wanted to be totally accurate. And I will admit that Stefan giving Elena the necklace was a pretty big deal on The Vampire Diaries that could have been honored in the musical, but hopefully it won't ruin the musical experience for any viewers on Legacies!

This isn't the Game of Thrones coffee cup or the Mandalorian crew member all over again. The necklace could be an in-universe error rather than a problem on the part of the show, and I don't think it should distract from what could be a very fun episode of Legacies in a season that hasn't been filled with joy on a weekly basis. In fact, Legacies is only two episodes into Season 3 heading into "Salvatore: The Musical" and may have already set up the long term exits of two characters.

While deaths aren't always permanent in the Vampire Diaries universe, the Season 3 premiere may have set up the death of a character if she doesn't do what The Necromancer says. Raf's fate in the second episode of Season 3 seems less grim, but was also set up as potentially permanent. The Salvatore musical episode surely won't be an hour of laughs, but it could be a lot of fun. And nods to The Vampire Diaries and The Originals may be the best connections to the shows that came before until more cast members drop by the latest spinoff. (I wouldn't count on Joseph Morgan, though!)

For now, you can look forward to "Salvatore! The Musical" on Legacies' upcoming episode, airing on Thursday, February 4 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW. For more action set in the Legacies universe, you can also find The Vampire Diaries and The Originals streaming on Netflix now.
