As Kelly Clarkson Goes Through Her Divorce From Brandon Blackstock, Jill Biden Shares Some Hopeful Advice

Jill Biden and Kelly Clarkson on The Kelly Clarkson Show

Kelly Clarkson’s divorce from Brandon Blackstock has been playing out in the public since it was announced in June 2020. As all that drama plays out in the media, Clarkson got the opportunity to interview First Lady Jill Biden. As the two talked, Biden gave some hopeful advice to Clarkson on life after divorce.

To say that Kelly Clarkson has been going through a rough year is an understatement. Her divorce from her husband and manager Brandon Blackstock has seen lawsuits fly back and forth as the two try to successfully co-parent. Clarkson has been incredibly open about it on The Kelly Clarkson Show. On Feb. 24, the entertainer interviewed First Lady Jill Biden on her talk show. As their talk turned to the subject of divorce, Biden took a moment to give Clarkson some motherly advice as a former divorcée.

This is what I would say to you if I were your mother. My mother always said to me, things are gonna look better tomorrow, and if you can take one day at a time, and things will get better. I look back on it now and I think, you know, if I hadn’t gotten divorced, I never would have met Joe. I wouldn’t have the beautiful family I have now. So I really think things happened for the best, and I think, Kelly, over time, I don’t know how long it’s been for you, but I think over time you heal. You’re gonna be surprised and I can’t wait until that day comes for you. You’re gonna call me up and you’re gonna say ‘Hey Jill, you were right.’

Interviewing First Lady Jill Biden is one thing but getting divorce advice from her is another thing. Kelly Clarkson took the advice in stride. Seeing two women have an honest conversation about life after divorce was refreshing. Like most breakups, divorce can be a challenging time for anyone but doing it in public takes things to another level. While Clarkson may have been the recipient of the advice, plenty of people can probably take the First Lady’s advice to heart.

Jill Biden’s advice to Kelly Clarkson wasn’t the first time the entertainer has tackled her divorce. Last December, Clarkson opened up to country superstar Garth Brooks about his music helping her through the turbulent time. Around the same time, she spoke on the emotional toll divorce has taken on her and her children. She recently spoke about the difficulties of co-parenting with her soon-to-be ex-husband.

2020 into 2021 hasn’t been all bad for Kelly Clarkson as her talk show was renewed for two more seasons and gained in the ratings over Ellen DeGeneres. Clarkson has managed to weather the chaos of divorce, but Jill Biden’s advice may help her in her new life. Knowing how open and honest Clarkson is about her life, viewers may get a glimpse into her post-divorce life.
