Discovery Will Air New Series Deadly Seas This Friday

Discovery Channel has earned some good ratings from programming focusing on the high seas. Deadliest Catch has run for eight seasons, giving viewers a unique window into the fishery business and showing some triumphs and several affecting heartbreaks on the way. The series has been so popular, it even spawned the fictional spinoff flick, Deadliest Sea. Now, Discovery is throwing together some of the suspense and settings of the former and mixing these with some of the spice of the latter’s title to create a brand new series.

Deadly Seas is headed to the popular reality network and it is headed fast. The upcoming series is expected to launch on Friday, June 8 and its three parts will follow boats foraying into some of the deadliest waters in the world. David Pritikin is set to executive produce the series, alongside the people behind one of the network’s largest ratings goldmines, Gold Rush.

According to the cable network, the three episodes produced will follow life in environments like the Bering Sea—where Deadliest Catch has been known to shoot—and will follow livelihoods including a fishing derby and a mad dash for scallops. Deadly Seas will air Friday June 8 at 9 p.m. ET on the Discovery Channel.
