I have only seen one episode of Dancing with the Stars. I caught it while waiting for someone in a lounge once. I found the show intriguing, but I was too busy at the time to look into it further. The show has had plenty of contestants that I would have liked to see perform on the show, especially because some are considered the best to ever compete. I just never got around to watching another Dancing with the Stars episode.
When I heard about Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro, which is available with a Hulu subscription, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to give the franchise a chance. It’s now a must-watch for me.
It Makes Me Look Forward To Seeing Who Wins And Starts Their Dancing With The Stars Career
I only know a few of the long-time Dancing with the Stars pros, such as Mark Ballas, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and Derek Hough. Therefore, I am not familiar with many of the pros, but it’s been fun getting to know some of them through their appearances on this series. It’s immediately making me wonder how the contestants would fit alongside them in future seasons.
Great reality TV shows make you grow attachments to the contestants. You care about their successes, failures, and how they stand out. I felt strongly about the contestants on Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro. I care who wins because I am already invested in a few of them and their journeys.
I see their talent, stories, and ambitions and want to see them get this opportunity. I found myself stressing out during a recent elimination. That only happens when I care about the outcome of these silly reality TV shows.
Being so invested in their storylines is also why I will likely watch the next season of Dancing with the Stars. I want to see the winner’s debut and progress alongside those competing.
I Enjoy Hearing The Judges’ Feedback Because It Feels Genuine
I grew up watching reality TV shows, so I know how helpful or unhelpful judges can be to a contestant’s progress. The Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro judges land somewhere in the middle of helpful and unhelpful. Shirley Ballas gives very constructive and helpful criticism. This was one of my main thoughts when watching the first couple of episodes. She’s the most seasoned and professional judge.
Mark Ballas is fine as a judge, but he’s more kind and less critical. He can enjoy a contestant's vibes and excuse some technical errors. The guest judges vary. Some fall more towards the Shirley line of criticism, while others are similar to Mark.
I love dance but have limited knowledge and skills. Therefore, it’s really helpful to hear feedback from these professionals, just as a viewer curious about the world of dance.
I Like The Range Of The Next Pro Dancers Because All Are Professionals But Are Different Degrees Of Them
It’s clear that a lot goes into preparing for this show, and that it requires high levels of dance skills. The dancers vary in their discipline and their skill levels. That comes across in their performances, but it makes the show more exciting. A commercial dancer could beat someone who has won dance championships. You just can’t predict who will excel each week or in the end.
Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro has won many people over who aren’t fans of the original series. It’s definitely worth a watch, especially if you’re not ready to commit to the original.
